Manga: Chapter 659 (SPOILERS!)

SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!
This is looking like a baaaaad situation, but new One Piece chapters from Shonen Jump Alpha
shall cure these terrible puns
Let’s dive immediately into this week's game of hot and cold, the island. I don't even know what I'm talking about myself half of the time.

After the revelation last chapter describing Punk Hazard as  the same island where Akainu and Aokiji had their duel, Smoker's troops stare in horror as the volcanoes start to erupt and the ice cold mountains send shivers down their spines. They fire cannons at the wall of ice to break a hole into it to enter the island and put on gas masks due to the supposed dangerous gas on the island. As they start to travel through the wall, another wall of ice threatens and we leave the Marines for now as we switch back to Luffy, Usopp, Robin and Zoro.

They stop as they need to find a way  accross a lake to get to the icy side of the island. Luckily, they don't need to swim as the resourceful Usopp provides a banana boat, I want one. Then I can make a giant banana split on a lake, yeah I have strange desires. He also creates some oars and the gang sets off, however they are stopped in their paths by the centaur. The centaur blows his horn to call on his boss. So the centaur is the man who was heard over the Transponder Snail. Looks like his boss and his centaur servants show up and attack the crew because he thinks Zoro is the samurai who cut down his friends.

Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring, banana boat!

Back at the research institution, Nami and Chopper continue their escape with the children while Franky and Sanji continue to fight off the guards in the Biscuits Room. Sanji knocks the masks off some of the guards to reveal that they are SHEEP PEOPLE sort of.

I'm going to call the samurai's head "Heady" until we find out his real name? I'm not a fan of just keep calling him the samurai's head. Heady seems exhausted because his torso is fighting someone. Cutting to the outside of the institution reveals that the torso is actually fighting Brook, it’s a quick fight but I like the way Brook is drawn attacking. The torso isn't running out of steam anytime soon, so Brook decides to run. Back inside, a guard reports that Smoker's Marine warship breaking through to someone who apparently knows Smoker and tells the guard to stay hidden and that he himself will stay inside. Who is this guy? Could it be the Warlord?

I love how Brook is getting much love in the fighting department
Speaking of the Marines, they have arrived at the research facility. Realizing that there is no gas, they remove their masks. The troops are motivated   to break in while Smoker casually presses the buzzer, but the door eventually opens and we finally find out who is the mysterious Warlord.   Fan favorite Trafalgar Law now has a new hat and a cool looking coat. I honestly didn't expect Law to be a new Warlord considering his actions during the Marineford arc.

Law claims that this facility is vacation home, and if that is so he has poor taste in locations. The troops all panic because apparently Law sent the hearts of 100 pirates to Marine HQ in order to become a Warlord, that’s interesting, and also creepy. The chapter ends with Smoker and Law arguing over their presence on the island.

Wow that was cool. The best things about reading this chapter were the artwork and the way it ended, but I was also happy that each Straw hat displayed their abilities. Now that we know that Law is the Shichibukai, it’s safe to assume that he was responsible for the current state of the samurai. Furthermore, there are questions. Why is Law here? Why did he become a Warlord? Is he the chief antagonist? Who is the Samurai and why did Law split him apart? When will the Straw Hats reunite? Who was that harpy lady? Who is the boss of the centaurs?

Hopefully we should get answers to some of these questions next time; in the meantime I shall be enjoying the hot-cold weather (because that’s normal in England). Until next time, see you around!

  1. That's One Piece for you. Confirm the answer to one question, and a million more take it's place.

Another question I have is doesn't Law's hat look strickingly similar in shape to Chopper's new hat? Is that just the "in" style of headwear these days? Or did Oda just get lazy? (Kidding!)

Actually, considering Talfagar Law origionates from the North Blue, the coldest of the seas, so he was probably rased in snowy climate, the weather on this island probably does feel natural to him (after all, his first mate is a polar bear).

I too was impressed with Usopp's Banana Boat. Oda is really riding the plant theme in all of Usopp's new abilities, and I'm digging it. He never ceases to amaze me.

  2. Oh, one more thing. Now that I think about it, don't those Sheep guys kind of look like Buggy's first mate, Mohji the Lion Tamer?

  3. It does. Most likely it is the style but then again it could be an environment thing. That does look like a warm hat.

That is a good point. I didn't think about the North Blue being cold. It does explain Bepo.

They do and if you are suggesting that Mohji is one of them, I do not think so. We have seen Mohji's legs and they look human.
