SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!
Don't cry! You can buy One Piece manga from Viz! Volumes 39-43 on sale now!
Come on Shonen Jump, you know you want to hire me. hahaSo it is finally over! This long battle that just seem to be going on for what seem like forever is now over! Do you guys know that since I started covering the Japanese manga in this blog that it has been this battle between the Marines and the pirates? I mean I have been blogging for half a year now and that is basically how long this fighting has been going on and finally it is over! Yay!
So the big plan of Shanks to end the war was to just stand there and look pretty which then would scare off the Marines from continuing the fighting while asking the pirates to stop fighting. Okay, that is perfectly fine with me! I mean I didn't really want to see Shanks and his crew to fight anyways since I just wanted this battle to be over with. I am just tired of being at Marineford now. haha If Shanks and his guys fight then that means more of this fighting that is taking forever to do.
Still I liked how this chapter was. It tied up all loose ends that needed to be tied up. Luffy got his hat back, in a funny way, and we now know what will happen to Ace and Whitebeard's bodies. No pacifista versions of Whitebeard and Ace! haha It is cool on how well Shanks knows Luffy too since clearly Shanks wanted to see Luffy but the guy knew that Luffy wouldn't want to see him. I can see that too. I think Luffy would have been upset if Shanks came up to him right now since the kid has lost his crew and failed (to some degree) in saving his older brother. Luffy will feel terrible that he couldn't live up to being a great pirate to Shanks right now. To me it seems like Shanks thinks that Luffy is a great pirate but Luffy himself maybe doesn't think he is great enough yet to see Shanks or much less give the straw hat back to him.
Still when you look a Luffy right now in Law's sub, the kid doesn't look too good so maybe it is a good thing that Luffy is out cold for the moment.
This moment here was funny. I have a good feeling that Hancock is going to try to go after Luffy now just to see her 'husband' again. haha She wants to finish off Luffy herself alright. heeheehee Way to go Luffy. Got you some older lady on your heels. Still this is another loose end tied up concerning what the Warlords are going to do.
Then we have Mihawk being all cool and not wanting to fight Shanks based on the agreement of 'warring against Whitebeard'. That is cool. Getting out of his agreement based on something so small. I guess that is why we haven't seen him fight in the last few chapters.
Then seems like the Admirals have given up on their chase for Luffy seeing that they tried and failed. I guess they are all a bit too afraid of the water.
Still this is a surprise to me though. The only admiral that seems upset about Luffy getting away in Law's yellow submarine is Aokiji. I mean the guy is a bit lazy and carefree-ish. I guess he can be a bit series when he is on the clock or something. Kizaru is just putting this whole thing under luck. Heck, the guy was the first one to admit that their escape was just luck and told the rest to give up. Then we have Akainu looking as if he had to get a shot in the butt. I am sure the guy is upset but his face so isn't showing that. Still I guess even Akainu knows his limit since it seems like he doesn't want to mess with Shanks. You think the guy wouldn't care who gets in his way but Shanks may be in a different league if the lava-fisted Akainu doesn't want to mess with him. I wonder if that is the case.
Now the question is, what is the faith of Luffy and Law as they tried to go deep into the sea? Clearly they would have survive that attack but to what degree? They said they were going to the bottom of the sea but were they fast enough to out-speed Kizaru's attack? Did Kizaru attack follow them down to some degree? Is the sub still in one piece? We don't know but I like to believe that it is. It would suck if after all of this with Law coming to Luffy's aid and escaping that they would hurt the kid or the people he is with even more.
Then again...I did say the same thing about Ace being killed after all that Luffy did to save him and we all saw what happen there.
Still let believe. It makes me feel better. haha
"Zehahahahaha! I'll take a raincheck on that! I got what I wanted, and besides. It's still too early for our battle to happen!"Seems like Blackbeard knows his limit too since it he doesn't want to face Shanks either. This just adds more to me wondering how powerful Shanks really is. Not too long ago Blackbeard was being all cocky about his abilities while up against Sengoku but now the guy is just okay with not having to fight. We know that Blackbeard was the one that gave Shanks his scar over his eye but that could have been luck or a dirty trick on Blackbeard's part. Seems like Blackbeard knows that too.

It is nice to see Shanks doing something that is longer then a few minutes because it was funny seeing him talk to Buggy. He promised the guy a treasure map if he could give the straw hat back to Luffy and claim it was just a spur of a moment statement. haha That is so mean Shanks. Getting Buggy's hopes all up for nothing. Still, cool to see these two guys reunited since I guess the last time they saw each other was back in Lougetown when Roger was executed. Interesting that they are back together again seeing what just happened here.
Then the former prisoners of Impel Down are misinterpreting Buggy's yelling to Shanks as something cool. haha These guys are a riot! Let them believe what they want because it just makes Buggy seem cooler then he is. Claiming to follow Buggy for the rest of life is a funny thing to hear.
Then after a small chat with Sengoku, the war is over! The Fleet Admiral must knows that it be pointless to fight against Shanks alone with the condition that the Marines are in. It won't be worth the lost of the Marines seeing at how badly they look right now. A lot their forces look pretty hurt here in this fight and they kind of lost their headquarters too. So a lot of rebuilding for these guys is up ahead.
So the war is over. After who knows how many chapters, there is an end. I am damn glad too since that means we get to see what else is going to happen. Heck, I am happy with this ending for the war. It seem to fit after all that has happen so far. It just simmer down instead of blowing up in a huge explosion. Everything ended nicely (to some degree). It is nice and leaves more for us to see in the future.
The world is going to be a bit different now after this. Our hero has lost his brother and the pirate world has lost a big figurehead or more like father figure. Luffy himself is still in shock so it may be a while before he wakes up. All that is left I guess is to see how the pirates at Marineford are going to leave. Will the Marines let them walk away peacefully or try to chase after them? Sengoku made it sound like he is telling everybody to tend to the wounded so maybe the pirates will be able to leave quietly. Another thing I wonder is how will Luffy be when he wakes up? I am sure the guy will be able to bounce back after the lost of Ace. The kid may be wondering where the heck he is since being in a submarine may be a shock to him. I just hope it won't knock the guy out again. Guess the kid has a lot to catch up on when he wakes up and that will be the time to see how the Luffy is.
Still we won't know since One Piece will be going on a break and won't be coming back til Issue #20 of Jump. I am guessing that is a week? Not sure really since I don't keep up with issue numbers. I think this is a good time for a break too. A perfect break off point with the war ending. Give us fans and Oda some time to breath and think about what has happen. So till after the break, I am thinking we will see how the others are faring and what is going on with Luffy.
