First Thoughts
The other title for this episode was going to be "How to be a Douche by Borsalino 'Kizaru'". Damn that Kizaru. He is such a damn troll. How much of a loser must you be to attack a man when he is down and can't attack back. What a damn loser...I go more into it later.
This episode was kind of slow really. The filler parts were bad and the action parts were slow. It felt forever to get though at some parts and clearly you can see where they were padding out the episode with long drawn out scenes. Not as bad as it was with Hancock's daydream from a few episodes back but still a bit painful to watch.
Summary
Luffy gets beat up by an assortment of Vice Admirals and Kizaru.
Whitebeard, his crew and allies continue to battle against the Marine forces.
Garp enters the battle to help keep people from reaching Ace on the execution platform.
Thoughts
I have to say this could be one of the worse filler that has ever been shown in the Marineford arc. If it isn't then this scene could come to a good second. Everything here felt very out of character for Ivankov including the avoidance of falling into water and blaming everything on Jimbei. Then the scenes of Luffy getting beat by the Admirals were okay and I guess was used as a cheap way to past time but it really did look cheap.
Jimbei also seem to be acting a bit awkward too. Though this whole situation felt awkward to watch so that could be easily explained.
Another bad part of the episode. I love the music used here since it is one of my favorite background music in the series. Everything else about this fight against Aokiji was just long and dragged out. The whole waiting for Whitebeard to get out of the block of ice to watching the swirl of ice after Whitebeard stabbed him felt long.
To say something nice about this scene, some part of it was pretty like when Aokiji was using his Partisan attack.
This looks like it came right from the episode that it is from and boy does it looks cleaner then what we are seeing right now. That isn't bad but surely one can see the difference in setting. That flashback takes place in a sunny location where things seem much more relax while Marineford looks gray and dark as the atmosphere is tense.
Coby, the kid seem to be lacking a lot of fight experience. Surely he has been training since the last time he seen Luffy but Luffy himself been on the battlefield facing foes such as Moria. A difference in these two people. Coby has high dreams but will he be able to reach these dreams with where he is at right now or does he have to consider other options to reach those dreams. Surely though he will be a different man once the events of Marineford but that depends if he can stand to fight for another day.
Luffy sure doesn't look too good right now. He has one eye half close and for the last few episode there was blood running down his face. Then Luffy wasn't even able to activate Second Gear to use against the two powerful Vice Admirals. That can't be good and only a sign that Luffy is running on low. Makes me wonder if Luffy could have handle these guys if he wasn't so drained. If anything it seems in the opinions of these Vice Admirals that in this battle Luffy is the inexperience one. I wonder how much experience you must have to put up a good fight against higher ranked Marine officials. Luffy has battle against powerful foes such as Warlords and various villains but it looks like that isn't enough against veteran Marines.
Then you have the loser Kizaru. The damn idiot goes in and attacks Luffy right after he just gotten beaten and worn down by every Marine and their mommas. How many times has Kizaru attack Luffy at Marineford? One? Two? Maybe three tops? It makes you wonder what the fastest man in the Marines has been doing this whole time. If anything Kizaru has been busy taking out people who have been tired out already such as Oars. How the heck did this man became an admiral to begin with if all he has been doing is taking out tired out people. Heck, he did the same at Sabaody against Zoro. So much hate against Kizaru.....
Grap doesn't look too good with what is happening here. On one side he has his real grandson being beat to a pulp against various Marines while on the other side he has his adopted grandson about to be facing the blades of execution. What does he value more? Family or work? Something that all men have to decide at least once in their life. Do you spend more time at work or stay home for your kid's birthday? Maybe I am over thinking this a bit but something to consider.
A side note: Sucks that you have most of your family here but it is only because one of them is going to die and you are against opposite sides. Poor Ace, Garp and Luffy.
"Ace is my only brother!"Luffy may really want to save his brother but he doesn't look to be in the condition to do it. If he body was able to keep going then we all know that Luffy will keep fighting until he does what he wants to do. Though the fact is that his body is tired out and can't go forward. Painful to see as your hero wants to do something but can't while in such a painful state. Both mentally and physically.
-Luffy
Then there is Jimbei who wants to lay down his life to try to save Ace and support Luffy. That is just something. He said he would back in Impel Down and is make good on that promise.
Two superpowers. Would the power of quakes overcome the power of magma or will magma cover the tremors of the quake? Wish we could have gotten more then red and blue but this is all we going to get for now.
These images are just here because I want to include them in the post.
Personally I think dude-that-looks-like-a-lady is using Haki in his bullets similar to the Kuja do with their arrows. That would explain how he was able to break swords. Also would show what he uses to survive in the New World. The guy looks very cook and clearly he has skill if he has been able to stay in this battle with only two pistols.
Then I just love when Hancock is able to show some of her fighting style. Grace and power all together in one package. That chick just looks like she is walking in the park as she fights and makes good use of her snake.
Also I love when she uses Slave Arrow. It so fun to watch as she kisses her finger to make the giant pink heart and fires the arrows. haha
Then this episode ends on a high note as Garp flies into the air and punch Marco who was flying towards Ace in his phoenix mode. This has to be the craziest part of the episode since it isn't everyday when you see an old man punch a phoenix.
This episode didn't have many things good to say about it. It was okay but when it was bad it was bad and when it was good it was good. Nothing super great. Hoping for the next one to be good. If anything it looks like it will be painful to watch emotionally as seen in the preview.

Doesn't look good for the pirates. Luffy is screaming in pain. Whitebeard is spitting out blood. Jouz's arm being frozen and Marco getting shot. Surely this doesn't make the pirates look as if they are doing nicely in this battle. The tide of battle isn't looking good for Whitebeard, Luffy and the other pirates.
Looks like we will get a bit of Ace's past. I am guessing we will get some sort of filler similar to what we saw with Squad. Extending certain moments to kill time and things like that. As long as it was better then what was done in this episode then that will be fine. It looks like all those One Piece fans that like Ace will be having a high when they watch this episode. haha
Next Episode: Power that Reduces One's Life- Tension Hormones Return
See you till then true believers! Also I hope we will have a post for this episode as well. haha
Mikey's Note: I realize that I didn't say that many good things about this episode. If you disagree then feel free to raid the comments and tell me. If you agree then go ahead and tell me. I kind of curious to see if this was just me being tired from a long school week or something. So was the episode as bad as I thought it was?
I ve been searching the tune that plays in the background during Coby's promise-flashback... Do you know it? It 'd be of great help! Thnx...
