Thoughts

So the battle between Franky and Senor Pink has finally ended after a year has passed. It started off with them battling in front of the House of Toys and then resumed at the SMILE Factory. It has been a long battle and we kept cutting back to it. Each time we just keep getting glimpses of the battle and the introduction of the important characters such as Kyuin.

What did I think about this battle? It was a mostly just a drag. One thing that I dislike about how One Piece has been in recent arcs was the constant going back and forth. We have gone between people and this battle was plagued with them. This has been happening with the other battles such as Zoro vs Pica and Diamante vs Kyros but it was worst for this battle. The Franky vs Senor Pink battle has been going on for over a year now back when they first started to fight in front of the House of Toys. We then had a huge break and came back to it at the SMILE Factory. If you think about it, we have been anticipating an ending to this battle for over a year.

One of the better things to come from this chapter was an explanation for Pink's current appearance. During the flashback we saw a suave man but when we were first introduced to Senor Pink we are see a "man-baby". So what was the explanation? Present Senor Pink is the result of a man who lost his family and is trying to make his wife happy.

It is an explanation but clearly Senor Pink's thoughts have become twisted throughout the years. He has taken this idea to the extreme and perhaps the idea of "hard boiled" has gotten to his head.

Then again, has people just went ahead and explained Senor Pink's "Hard Boil" attitude for his sudden change or was this something that people consider him before? If it was the latter then that means Senor Pink has went ahead and embrace this mantra that was force upon him in order to continue to make his wife smile. If so then Senor Pink is more of a tragic character then a comical one.

So hard boiled!

I am not going to defend Senor Pink but I am glad that we finally got an explanation for his behavior. I was willing to buy that Senor Pink was just some guy who liked to dress up as a baby. It fitted in well with the colorful characters that One Piece already has. What was bothering me was the mystery that had present itself since Law's flashback: What ever happen to the suave and handsome man that was Senor Pink?

It was an interesting chapter that ended with Franky having a clear shot of the SMILE Factory.  Those of you who read this review, feel free to answer this question: Is Senor Pink a Tragic or Comedic Character?

Until next time true believers!

This one goes out to SuperNeku
