Manga: Chapter 707 (SPOILERS)

SPOILERS
Read your One Piece like a KING! Only on Weekly Shonen Jump!

Summary
Block B starts their battle royale.

Chinjao reveals that he could see though Luffy's disguise.

Thoughts

This chapter had a punchline to a four chapter long joke: Luffy can't keep a disguise going even if he tries.

Luffy has accidentally slipped up a few time but overall he has done a good job in concealing his identity. Then we have two people who have already seen though it with one of them being somebody who Luffy has never met before. It was understandable that Bellemy could see though it. I don't think you can forget the eyes of the guy who gave you a one punch to the ground knockout.

Then you have Chinjao who Luffy has never met before seeing right though the disguise. I guess Luffy needs more then a beard to pull the wool over three generations spanning of hate. It is interesting to see how things will play out in the next round. as him and Luffy are in the same block. I wonder what gave Luffy away. Was it just how Luffy and Garp acted?

Is it bad that I still don't know Cavendish's name?

If anything, the relationship between Luffy and Cavendish is going to get interesting. Just when the two looked as if they were getting friendly too. I guess Luffy can never get a break. Maybe this means we can can see Cavendish moving up to the next round.

What is there to say about the fights going on in this block? We have one guy that remind us of how Bellemy use to be before taking a beating from Luffy and Doflamingo. Some guy with long legs. A guy that people love to hate. Then some king who takes a whole hour to throw a punch that can knock down a wall which is something Luffy can do in five seconds. Lastly, a fishman that is a friend of Jimbei. Obviously we should care about Bellemy. We have a lot of characters here who we may not see again after this arc. The only two that I am interested in is Hack and Elizabello.

Shall we go over what is wrong with this guy in the comments?

The only reason Hack is interesting is because he claims to be a friend of Jimbei. Could he be somebody that can help Luffy later on in this arc or in the future or simply get in the way? He does wants to see peace between Fishman and Humans but is it the same way as Jimbei? Just one of those things where only time can tell.

Then we have Elizabello. What makes this guy so interesting? The fact that people really believe he can win this whole tournament with his "King Punch". This attack is so powerful that it can take out a wall of the fortress once it has an hour to power up. I am sure we all see the flaw in this technique but people think he is good. Are people just that closed off from the world because I am sure we seen Luffy and others do the same thing with less time to prepare. Is there only an hour before matches? Maybe but it won't matter if you only have one shot to defeat the person. If one punch is able to knock out an Emperor then maybe the New World isn't so bad.

We are about to hit fights and that is one of the things we love about One Piece. We are seeing people from other countries wanting the Flame-Flame Fruit. There are so many characters and usually I love that about One Piece but after Marineford, it just feels rather pointless to introduce all these characters who we may never see their full potential. We got a bit of this at Fishman Island and they all just got knocked out quickly considering they were people we were suppose to care about. I guess here it make sense those because we are in a tournament but it just disappointing to see all these characters who look interesting.

Also, where did it say that only one person can move up to the next round from these battle royale style matches? Can somebody answer this in the comments because I am hearing this a lot.

Until next time true believers.

Just sitting back and enjoying the ride.

  1. If Hack was Jimbe's friend, there may be a chance he was Ace's friend as well, seeing how close the two of them were.

As for Elizabello II, I guess it's to really gadge how powerful his supposed King's Punch really is until we actually see it. They could very well just use his attack to knock out a bunch of cannon fodder and leave just a few people left in the ring like Bellamy and the Vampire.

I was actually hoping that Luffy wouldn't have to reveal his secret identity until he was in the arena. I guess there is still the possibiblity that Chinjao and Cavendish won't tell anyone else and keep his identity to themselves when they face him. Gives them an advantage if they alone know his true powers and abilities.

Cavendish is in the same round as Rebecca. I kinda want her to kick his ass.

    1. Maybe. This is curious to see that Hack knows Jimbei. Maybe he is trying to win the fruit in honor of Ace and hopefully give it to Luffy.

That is the only way I can see that punch being useful. I am sure that "The Vampire" is planning to just let everybody tire themselves out (See, so many characters I don't plan to learn their names) while Bellamy is going to go crazy with his Spring Loaded Punches.

I can see Chinjao holding out until later or not revealing Luffy's identity out of respect or something.

As for Cavendish, I can see Oda making a joke with him by having him revealing Luffy's identity only to have people saying "Silly Cavendish! That can't be Luffy! It is Lucy!" to only fuel Cavendish's hate for Luffy.

I want Rebecca to beat him but I feel that would be nice for later on. That is why I asked if we know if only one person escape the ring or multiple.
