Manga: Chapter 716 (SPOILERS!)

SPOILERS!

Need Manga? Viz has your back! Read One Piece each week in Weekly Shonen Jump!
At the Corrida Colosseum, the Block C Battle Royale continues with particular highlights from Kelly Funk who became a much bigger fighter since he is actually being worn by his own brother Bobby as a jacket through his Devil Fruit powers. Personally, I think its a bit lame but at the same time they're utilising their teamwork since Bobby is a pacifist.

Sai (who as you might remember as part of Chinjao's family) wants revenge on Kelly after his comrade Boo was defeated severely by him. He uses his Hasshoken technique to outwit Kelly and manages to take him down, thus avenging Boo. That was quick.

Seriously, flashback please.

It looks like Luffy is in trouble since Chinjao declares his desire to make him pay for what Garp did to him in the past, which includes taking away his fortune, power, as well as his own memories of his youth. Although Luffy tells him that he should take it up with Garp if he's that angry, Chinjao wants Garp to experience the same pain of loss that he did.

Luffy (seemingly ignoring Chinjao) tries to get his helmet back from Jean while dodging Jean's attacks and exposition. Specifically exposition about how he's been getting rich off of claiming bounties of criminals who escaped from Impel Down during Luffy's journey to rescue Ace and is even planning on taking down Jinbei, Buggy, Crocodile. Ivankov and Shiryu. Yeah good luck with that.

Even Luffy is getting bored

Although Luffy managed to dodge every one of Jean's weapons, they all managed to hit Chinjao who promptly knocks Jean out with a single headbutt. Sai is in a brutal fight with the boxer Ideo while at the same time, Chinjao tells Luffy to stop running and so Luffy does since he doesn't care anymore since he'll have to fight to win anyway.

Both Luffy and Chinjao knock Sai and Ideo out of the ring since they were in the way and the two clash with fists encased with Conqueror's Haki. The chapter ends with the aftermath of this clash knocking out any other remaining contestants as only Luffy and Chinjao are left standing.

THIS SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY, SEE THESE TWO TITANS
DUKEIT OUT AT THE CORRIDA COLOSSEUUUUUUM

This chapter was nowhere near as teeth grinding as last weeks. My only real complaint being the stuff involving the Funk Brothers, Jean, Sai and Ideo since as predicted, they were all knocked out by the end making all the panel time they received somewhat pointless.

We get hints of Chinjao's past with Garp and quite frankly I hope we see more of this in a flashback later on. But you could argue that the little we've been told is enough which is fine I suppose since we have plenty of stuff in this arc to look forward to about enough as it is.

Its entirely possible that the next chapter could return to the other Straw Hats even though I wish this tournament would wrap up ASAP. But who knows? Maybe soon enough Oda will find a way for the Straw Hats to come together like in other arcs.

But until the next chapter, have a good week my friends.

One Piece is a bit weird. Don't know if you've noticed
