Manga: Chapter 739 (SPOILERS!)

SPOILERS!

Keep it secret, keep it safe! Read One Piece each week in Weekly Shonen Jump!
The Officer Tower has been smashed up by the gooey Trebol, but luckily Usopp and Robin survive. However, the remaining dwarves have all been captured by Trebol and Sugar, so there goes that plan.

Trebol interrogates Leo over his allies, but ufortunately Leo is terrible at keeping secrets because he gives away that he is working alongside Usoland and the Thunder Soldier. Despite this, Leo is still determined that the plan will still work and Trebol decides to blow them up because his slime is actually flammable. Great, gross and dangerous.

Anyone else reminded of Mr 5?

Following the explosion, Usopp grabs Leo and suggest that they escape but Leo refuses because completing the mission is the only way for their captain to beat Doflamingo.

Meanwhile, while Lao G is beating up the Thunder Soldier, we get a flashback to earlier on in the day. The prisoners in Corrida Colosseum as well as the dwarves are estatic over the news of Doflamingo's resignation but the Thunder Soldier was convinced that this wasn't true.

Rebecca is upset and impatient because the prisoners at the Colosseum have lost all hope and are convinced that the undefeated gladiator Kyros was a lie just to give the other gladiators hope of freedom and decides to participate in the battle royale.

Not gonna lie, this hurt me a bit

The Thunder Soldier refused to let Rebecca participate because she is too young and weak but this only upsets Rebecca, who in frustration, shouts at him saying he is not her real father (ouch) and cannot win against Doflamingo because he is only a toy. The Thunder Soldier simply agrees and walks off saying he prays that she does the right thing and not participate. Rebecca quickly realises her mistake and cries out an apology.

Back in the present, Rebecca finally goes on the offensive against Diamante but with a blunt weapon. Diamante whacks her with his club and Lucy (who noticed the attack) orders Bartolomeo to protect Rebecca. Diamante asks Rebecca if she remembered how her mother died and that even he got emotional seeing the Toy Soldier cry

Back outside the lift, the other dwarves attack Lao G and the Thunder Soldier proceeds along with Cub. The Soldier is worried about the other dwarves but Cub assures him that they need their captain. Speaking of the captain, in the underground Usopp asks Leo why he is so crucial.

 Thunder Soldier: Freelance Toy

Leo explains that the Thunder Soldier is the first person to become a toy, but because Sugar didn't make a contract (as we've seen in previous chapters) he became the only toy capable of fighting against Doflamingo. Without him, there is no hope of saving the Tontatta tribe and the chapter ends with the revelation that the Thunder Soldier is actually the legendary gladiator Kyros!

Obviously, the Thunder Soldier's identity was the big revelation in this chapter because we all knew before that he was Rebecca's father. Thunder  Soldier being Kyros was a nice tie in to the beginning of the arc because he's the symbol of hope for the gladiators as Kyros and for the dwarves as the Thunder Soldier.

Its weird, I'm surprised yet at the same time I'm not

Diamante also seems to be aware of something regarding the death of Rebecca' mother, whether this means that he is the one who killed her or he simply knows who did it, This doesn't seem very clear but I doubt we'll be kept in the dark for too long.

As for Usopp's group and Luffy's group, what exactly will happen next with them will be exciting to see. Thats all for this week, see you all next time!

Brilliant acting or just being himself?
