Manga; Chapter 703 (SPOILERS!)

SPOILERS!

SOS SOS! Read One Piece each week in Weekly Shonen Jump!

Continuing from last time, we get an explanation of how a Devil Fruit can grow back after it's user has died. This now explains how Doflamingo has gotten ahold of Ace's Flame-Flame Fruit and put it up as the prize in the tournament. Luffy is determined to win and gain back Ace's fruit.

The thought of someone else having Ace's fire powers makes him mad, to which Franky says that they'll regret it later if they don't take this chance now. They decide to head towards the Colosseum.

Any debates on what would happen to the Flame-Flame Fruit?

Meanwhile, Zoro is chasing after the "fairy" who stole his sword Shuusui while Sanji follows. They don't find the thief but they do see a very beautiful dancer called Violet. Of course she distracts Sanji while Zoro continues his search. Sanji decides to give up on chasing him while he daydreams about his "ladies" when Violet suddenly thrusts herself onto Sanji and kisses him!

This was to avoid being seen by some guards passing by and of course leads to NOSE BLEED! She actually starts falling for him (Yeah, for real.) but she thrusts herself away from him because she has given up on love. Why? She stabbed a man...awkward.

Sanji doesn't seem to care though but Violet continues to resist because she doesn't want to fall for him. She asks Sanji if he'll be her bodyguard until she reaches the next city and on top of that, she wants him to help kill a certain man once they arrive. Something tells me she is putting on act, just a hunch.

Sanji has reached his nirvana at last

At the Corrida Colosseum, we get more insanity with toys, this time a one-legged soldier who is guarding the entrance from the police and screws around with Luffy for a bit. Luffy goes to sign up but does so under a pseudonym under the advice (As well as fist) of Franky. Monkey D Luffy is now Monkey D. Lucy (You have no idea how hard I laughed when I first read this part.).

As we enter the Colosseum, we see a slew of many tough guys and girls. One in particular called Spartan who apparently won the championship fifty-one times who doesn't exactly take a liking to the "weak old man", he decides to greet Lucy with a punch.

The chapter ends with Lucy, sorry Luffy dodging the attack and taking down Spartan with ease.

Must...resist...300 joke

This arc is getting more and more interesting as it goes on and if this chapter is any indication, its going to get even more so. The slew of new characters and the plot to not only sort Law's deal with Doflamingo as well as this new goal of regaining the Flame-Flame Fruit is so promising.

So now that One Piece officially has a tournament as per typical Shonen fare, how will it go? I'm pretty positive about it myself but we'll have to wait and see how this progresses. Catch you all next time!

Luffy's got some 'splainin' to do

  1. I guess now it's safe to admit I TOTALLY CALLED IT in regards to how Devil Fruit work after their user has passed away. As for what will happen to it once it's new owner has been decided, I can make a few new guesses.

Either Luffy wins it and ends of giving it to someone noble he feels disserves it (perhaps someone new he meets during this tournament.)

    or

Luffy loses it and it falls in the hands of a new enemy that Luffy is then going to have to track down.

I suppose Zoro and Sanji have both run into their kryptonite for this chapter: Getting Lost and Clingy Women. Guess they'll be too occupied to compete in the tournament themselves. Shame.

All that's left now is to guess how long Lucy can last in this tournament without using his rubber powers and giving away his real identity.
