Thoughts
Looks like Law is falling for Luffy's momentum.

Before starting off this review, congrats to everybody who have read all seven hundred chapters of One Piece and a bigger congratulations to those who have been reading since the first three years of the series. I know some people who are currently reading the series may have jumped in at some point because I am one of them.

I know there are some series who have surpassed seven hundred chapters and are even in their thousands. That is good for them and their readers. Still, this is the first (and only) time One Piece will reach this milestone. Then there are the fans who have never read a series with seven hundred chapters so they must be proud as well.

So cheers and enjoy the review for Chapter Seven Hundred of One Piece- His Momentum.

This chapter threw at us many things to think about. Some of those things old and others new. News of the new alliances spread fast as people around the world reacted to them pretty much the same as we did. Some people are curious about where this will go like Bonny. Others see how grave this could mean for the balance like Jimbei and the Marines. Some look as if they are a bit upset like Crocodile.

One of the biggest things that came out of this chapter is the status of Moria and his crew. If you looked on the page where Kid is talking about the freelance writer, Absa. There is a shot of the island and small ship sailing away from it. If you zoom in on that panel and look at the sails then you'll see the text "Thriller Bark" on it. Easy to miss if you are rushing though the chapter.

It looks as if Absalom has been doing some investigating journalism. I did spent a good while thinking about how could somebody could have discover the Kid-Apoo-Hawking alliance. We do know that the Marines have a photographer who can take photos of pirates without being notice so I thought it was a similar situation with this Absa person. Now, if this person had the ability to become invisible and had an easy means to escape then it is obvious that Absalom was the one who broke this story with the help of Moria. The question that has to be asked now is why.

The purpose of showing the Marines meeting was clearly to tell us what they plan to do and an update to the Warlords. We now have confirmation that Buggy was made into a Warlord and what he is doing. It looks as if he is still upholding the charade of the "Living Legend" but they changed his epithet to "Genius Clown" or was it always that and "Buggy the Clown" was simply a nickname? It looks as if the Pirate Temp Agency could be comprise of all those prisoners that follow him during the war.

This chapter also confirm that the Marines still consider Kuma as a Warlord. The Marines didn't even mention that Kuma was gone for two years protecting a pirate ship. You would think that action alone would have prompt something involving his title as Warlord.

And we do not know who this seventh member is. Thanks Oda.

Sakazuki is handling the job of Fleet Admiral well. He is already trying to get a hold on the Doflamingo situation. This could mean some big trouble for Straw Hats and company.

This is a running gag now isn't it?

The upcoming confrontation between Luffy and Doflamingo is going to be big one. Just when you think it has settle down, something else comes to raise the stakes. Doflamingo and his partners are already preparing to counter Luffy and company. The question is, will Luffy care if they have the Flame-Flame Fruit. It only contains the powers that Ace had and Luffy only knew Ace with that ability for a short while.

Each one of these men look to be on equal power compare to Doflamingo. There has to be something that gives Doflamingo an upper hand but he sure didn't like it that Trebol was close to him. Most people are rather fearful of Doflamingo so it is nice to see him in a new situation.

Luffy on the other hand sounds excited about arriving to Dressrosa. Just like everybody else who read this chapter.

We are entering a new arc and a new hundred chapters. What will await us in both? We just have to read on.

Until next time true believers!

  1. So far I'm really digging the whole Medieval card theme with Don's henchmen. I'm willing to bet right now that the nicknames of his four henchmen that sit in those chairs are (from left to right) The Jack of Clubs, Queen of Hearts, King of Diamonds, and Ace of Spades (and of course Don is the Joker.)

Great job noticing the Thriller Bark ship just off of Kid/Apoo/Hawkings island. The fact that Absolm is now a new undercover journalist for the marines would make a bit of sence, however, seeing as his former Captain was revoked from his Shichibukai title and sentenced to death, it's a bit of a head scratcher why he would be helping the marines. I guess it's possible he's submitting his reports anonymously.

I find Buggy being referred to as the "Genius Jester" to be a bit baffling. The guy's a moron, not to mention the laughing stock of this entire series. Every fortune he has landed in has been through sheer dumb luck. I suppose his Devil Fruit powers can prove to be somewhat useful, but unless he himself went through some extraneous training exhibition over the last two years (which I doubt), he's way out of his league right now.

Mr.3 and Alvida are still awesome though. Would like to see them again.

I think that Luffy will care that Don has the Mera Mera no mi because no matter how little it was apart of his memory of Ace, it was still a part of him. I would like to believe that Luffy, if he had his way, would want his brother's power to be passed down to someone who will use and respect it the way ace did, not be used as a tool of destruction under the control of one of the biggest jackasses the entire world.

I think we all can agree there. The Mera Mera no mi is one of the most powerful Devil Fruits in the entire series, and Don most certainly SHOULD NOT be in possession of such a powerful object.

    1. I am a fan of the playing card trope so I am interested to see how Oda plays with it. He does have a full house already. (Bad Joke)

I caught the Thriller Bark thing via a second read though for the review. It pays to do your reads on a laptop instead of some small smart phone.

It looks like Absalom is acting as a freelance writer so he doesn't work for anybody. All he does is submit articles and then runs off with the paycheck. Freelance writers can be loyal to a certain newspaper but they are not required to sign a contract or leave too much information. If anything, Absalom is sending the news via Coo which is possible seeing that he was still at the island a day later. If he does go in person to collect checks (Which could be sent via Coo to an address) then that could be done easily without anybody knowing it was him via Hogback. This is only specualtion but Hogback could have redone Absalom's face so he could not be recognized. The last we saw Hogback and Absalom, they were sailing away with Moria in tow.

There is some real irony with Buggy being called the Genius Jester. Lets not start with that. Clearly he has been lucky in all parts of his life including being inducted into the Warlords. I am pretty sure Mr. 3 and Alvida had a heavy hand into this new Temp Agency that he has started up. Mr. 3 doesn't look like the guy who likes to get his hands dirty and has shown to be a schemer while Buggy loves any chance to get some gold.

As much as I believe Luffy wouldn't care, I can agree that there is a strong chance that Luffy would like to ensure that the fruit doesn't go into the wrong hands. That is Ace's legacy after all and he wouldn't want it to be tarnish.

  2. Anybody else see Doflamingo giving the Flame-Flame Fruit to his Ace of Spades (If that's what it ends up being)? It just seems kinda fitting.

    1. It does sound rather funny but I think Diamante may end up using it seeing that Doflamingo gave it to him for safe keeping.

  3. Forgive my lateness here, but where are you getting your scanlations from? The one I just read called Buggy "The Thousand Piece Clown" and said he was head of the "Pirate Dispatch Organization", amongst other things. A lot of broken English and the like.
