Thoughts

This chapter was exciting from beginning to end and gave us everything one can expect from a One Piece chapter. We get humor and the air of mystery as we flip though each page.

One of the biggest things that came out of this chapter was more information concerning Law's ability. You can see that he has either improved his ability or revealed more of it. He was able to make Smoker's ship float in the water which must be his way to make sure that the Marines won't escape.

"Don't try...or he'll dismantle you limb from limb."
-Smoker

The last line from Smoker makes me think he knows about Law's ability. The Marines has to be knowledgeable about the people they could be working with and that include the Warlords. If so, then Smoker's statement would suggest that Law has a Paramecia ability that allows him to dismantle anything. That sounds like an intense ability it would explain why Law is such a feared pirate. The ability to dismantle anything or anybody can be very useful when collecting hearts in order to become a Warlord of the Sea. I wonder how Law's powers will hold up against a Logia type like Smoker and his jutte.

Now we all want to know if Law actually knew about the giant babies and the possible countless experiments that are happening at his vacation home. It has to be hard to ignore men in hazmat suits walking around your home. Then again, that is a pretty big laboratory.

Still, why would Law lie to a Marine? You need to remember that the Warlords do not have to be loyal to the Government as we saw with Crocodile and Blackbeard. Then again, Law lives in a large 'home' and who knows how long he has been there. It is possible that the 'Master' and his men have been avoiding Law the whole time. Law actually looked surprised when Nami's group and the babies came out. He is actually pretty good at keeping his composure so for him to be surprise is a feat.

Something to remember about Law, there is no guarantee that he is a friend of Luffy. Just because he saved Luffy back in the Marineford arc doesn’t mean that they are friendly. For all we know, Law could have done something to Luffy while he was operating on him anticipating the day they finally battle. Both of them are competing to become the King of the Pirates and Law looks as if he will do things to benefit his own motives.

The Warlords tend to make a habit of squatting in unusual places. You saw that Mihawk lived in an abandon kingdom while Moria sailed the Florian Triangle on Thriller Bark which originally came from the West Blue. I guess the World Government turns a blind eye to things such as where the Warlords live. Law did made a good choice for a vacation home if he is still trying to wait out the battle between all the pirates in the New World: An island where nobody is allowed to enter.

Please, tell me that this was your favorite scene.

This chapter was superb in all ways! It kept you glued to the pages while laughing at how funny everything was! I do not talk about the details of the art but I have to give it to Oda for how much work he puts into each page. Each Frozen One was drawn with such detail. You can see their facial expressions as they slowly froze to their death. Their clothing was detailed as well as you can see each stripe. Most of them look as if they were once prisoners.

Another scene that I want to bring up was when Nami's emerged from the 'vacation home'. You can see everybody in that shot, even Nami who was holding on to Chopper. I almost missed that when I first read the chapter. I hope after this, Nami will decide to wear more than a pair of 'breast-bands'.

Then you have Chopper making karate sounds after ever other sentence while in Kung Fu Point. Still, Smoker's reaction to the scene was priceless as Franky and the kids came trending in on the serious moment. That was the best way to end the chapter.

This chapter was beyond anything I expected to read on a Monday afternoon. I can't wait until next week.

Until next time true believers!

  1. That image at the end of your article was my personal favorite moment. I love how Franky was able to get everyone to do his Super pose, EXCEPT for Nami, who just inexplicably dissapears from the panel.

I then also love how they spent a whole half a dozen chapters trying to escape from that contraption of a mansion, and as soon as they get out... HOLY **** Smoker! Back in we go!

And of course, once again they have to explain to their comrades that they have to run away from the Marines, even though they are technically the good guys.

Apart from that, not a ton to comment on this week. It was just a lot of fun. I've been kind of busy on my own site. It's Too Much Avatar Week at Toy-TMA.com, and we are getting ready for the premeire of The Legend of Korra on Nickelodeon this Saturday morning.

  2. That scene was a close second. I just couldn't stop laughing at Smoker's face when he saw them all come out.

Yeah, this was a very simple chapter that had a lot of payoff.
