Manga: Chapter 662 (SPOILERS!)

SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!
Want Straw Hats? Our heroes can be found each week in SJAlpha!

This week's installment picks up with Tashigi recklessly attacking Law. She expresses shame from being cut and left alive. Law simply tells her that weaklings can't decide how they die which infuriates Tashigi even more. She tries to swing her sword at him but he simply cuts that too. The soldiers open fire on Law but he sends the bullets back at them by switching them with snow piles.

Just as Law is about to cut Tashigi again, Smoker blocks him with his jutte and almost has the advantage but Law transposes himself with debris just in time. As they continue to fight, Law's sword slices the landscape and one of the ship's halves start to fall, so the soldiers grab Tashigi's two halves and try to get away from the falling ship.

I feel so sorry for Tashigi in this scene.

We cut to Luffy and the rest of his group riding on top of Brownbeard. Because Brownbeard won't say anything when Luffy asks him where the others are, Luffy tells him to just go faster. Back inside the Research Facility, the boss has been informed of Law's fight with Smoker and of the escaped children from the Biscuits Room. The boss isn't happy because the marines have seen the children and will be suspicious,  and killing Smoker will make things even worse.

The harpy Mone arrives and informs the boss of the dragon’s death and the centaur patrol’s defeat at the hands of the Straw Hats. It looks like each of the posters in their newspaper has a new picture and higher bounty with the exception of Chopper, Robin and Franky.

Brownbeard officially fails as a bad guy.

We return to Law and Smoker's battle as the marine soldiers manage to reassemble Tashigi'sbody while fixing their own bodies. Smoker tells Law he never trusted him and tries to interrogate him about his plans on the island but Law responds by questioning him in return. Law transports a rock between them and Smoker smashes it, but  Law ducks and pierces the rock and Smoker right in the chest which leaves a square hole. That's right; Law has stolen Smoker's heart, literally. Smoker collapses and Law walks away. The chapter ends with Luffy's group approaching in the distance.

There was a good blend of action and exposition in this chapter which  excited me. In my opinion the fight was the highlight and that last movement shocked me. All that's on my mind is: what is going to happen between Luffy and Law? How is Sanji's group surviving with their minds switched?

I'm sure it'll be satisfying as always and I'll patiently wait until we get to see those questions answered next time. Remember, no new chapter next week! So until then, live long and prosper!

Now I've got Heart-shaped Box in my mind. Thanks Law.

  1. Probably my favorite joke of this chapter was when we got to see the new posters of the Straw Hat Pirates. Looks like the Marines were finally able to get a shot of Sanji...except that they only shot THE BACK OF HIS HEAD. Predict yet another of Sanji's explostions of dispair when he sees this.

And then we will run into some dork in the New World who happens to have the same look on the back of his head at Sanji, so he seeks revenge for being accused of being Black Foot.

Oh, I guess there was also some fight, where someone finally put Smoker and Tashigi in their place. How ironic. They try to set a trap for Luffy and his crew by camping right outside Fishman Island and look what happened to them?

And here I thought Smoker was suppose to be smart, and be on his way to becoming a new Admiral. But he kind of walked right into that one.

    1. I did found that funny. We finally get a good picture of Sanji but it is the back of his head. haha

Well, Smoker has never said he wanted to be an Admiral. Still, I do not fault Smoker for falling for Law's trap. There is a reason why Law had such a high bounty. Also, Smoker isn't perfect and he is human, note the scars on his face that were missing prior to the time skip.

I do still feel bad for Tashigi though. She tries to hard but always get shorthanded somewhere.
