Figure Piece: Portrait of Pirates Tashigi

Hello readers, it's Sailorsamus again with a new One Piece figure! To give a little background, I'm a newbie One Piece fan. I've only just finished the East Blue arc in both the anime and manga, and haven't yet reached the point where Chopper joins the crew. To be more specific, the Straw Hats have just landed at Whisky Peak.

Currently, Tashigi is one of my favorite characters. I really enjoyed watching her interactions with Zoro before the crew headed for the Grand Line. When I stumbled across an online sale for the Portrait of Pirates Tashigi figure, of course I jumped at the opportunity to have a high quality figure of a favorite female character.

The Portrait of Pirates line from Megahouse has become well known for high quality and an insane release schedule.

The quality of the figure extends to the base. It's hard to read in this picture but you can probably see the Marine's logo. The top line reads "Justice Marines" and the bottom line reads "Tashigi." Extra touches like that really make my day when purchasing a figure.

I like the cheerful expression on her face. It's also hard to tell in this picture, but there's clear plastic in her glasses!

As a girl, one of my favorite points of the figure is her shoes. No silly high heels or weird thigh boots for Tashigi! Her shoes are sensible and cute. (And for the prospective cosplayer, possibly easy to find!)

Now for some fanservice! Tashigi doesn't sport a plunging neckline, so it looks like she was sculpted with her shirt flying up....and her pants unbuttoned. For some reason. Weird... Interestingly, if you look far enough up her shirt, you can spot her bellybutton. Talk about attention to detail! You wouldn't even notice that unless you specifically looked for it.

The detail extends to Tashigi's sword and her hands. The sword's difficult to wedge into her hands, but once it's there it's completely secure.

The attention to detail extends to molding Tashigi's shirt so that it appears that her sword belt is right under it. Also you can see the beautiful paint job on her sheath.

Looking at the back makes it easier to see Tashigi's sheath and sword. Her pants are creased just where they should be creased and even have pockets. I also haven't mentioned yet that her shirt is lovely with the pink flowers on the yellow background. The paint on this figure is superb.

Last picture! What initially drew me to this figure was the pose. There's a sense of stored energy getting ready to be released, which I like. Of course it emphasizes the chest, but hey, most buyers of this figure will probably be guys. Also, the outfit is unusual. It's normal clothes. Not a bikini, nothing ridiculously skimpy. Completely worth the money I spent on her. If you'd like to pick up Tashigi for yourself, check out this link. Looks like the sale is still going on, plus there's a handful of other POP figures to order if you wish.
