Review Piece: One Piece Collection 1

One Piece Collection 1 Review

"The epic sets sail…
It is the era of adventure, as countless souls are lured along the Grand Line in pursuit of dreams far greater than any they’ve ever dared to imagine. Wealth, fame, power… It’s all available for the taking to the lucky soul that can find it: The legendary One Piece. Among those on the high seas is a youth on a quest to be king of them all – Luffy, the Straw Hat Pirate! But first he must find a ship, a crew and some supplies. Determined to recruit those at first unwilling to his cause, the young captain remains undaunted… "

One Piece Collection 1 is FUNimation's re-release of the 13 episode set's of One Piece FUNimation started releasing in 2008. If you have these releases, unless you are just a fan of One Piece that need every single release of the show, don't pick this set up. Just enjoy your voyages, if you are a new fan or just couldn't afford the original set's, than pick this up. And these are the reason's I say that...

Packaging
The packaging for this set is actually very original and differ's from the voyages in a lot of ways. For one thing, it is using a new logo on the set's for One Piece. It also has the "new" FUNimation logo on the set, which is really cool also. Something that is the same from the voyages on the packaging would have to be the "Letter Of Marque" which gives a description of what happens in the set. Now for the actual look when you open it looks great. The disc's have new artwork but the content remains the same on them. Even the trailers are the same from 2008.

Content
You know the story by now, Monkey D. Luffy eats a Gum Gum fruit by accident and has the ability to stretch his body. He wants to be a pirate so he gathers a crew, the first 4 crew members appear on this set. You will laugh, cry and enjoy the crazy adventures Luffy has starting his adventure and finding his crew.

Extra's
The only extra's contained in the set are creditless opening and ending's and trailer's from 2008 FUNimation releases.

Final Thought's
Like I said earlier, this release is really one to only pick up if you have never bought the series before or you just feel that you need to own anything One Piece. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who has spent over $200 on the 13 episode Voyage set's and I recommend you just wait for whenever Season 4 comes out to continue your shopping spree. For fans, that are new. I am sure you will enjoy this as your breaking point into One Piece!

  1. First of all, this is not a simple re-release, as you are claiming. This collection has 26 episodes, so its essentially 2 of the previous voyages packaged together. Not only that, one collection cheaper than one of the voyages, making it a great value for those who haven't seen One Piece. These are very important facts that should have been in your review, which is hardly even a review. In fact, I suspect you don't even own the set.

  2. I like this. Nice and helpful. It's a shame they didn't put anything extra in it, since it's being called a collection now.

    And I feel compelled to buying it even though I own these episodes already... ._.;

  3. This is a terrible review.

You clearly don't own the set, you havn't watched it, and you don't know what it is.

I say this because just about every major point you list here is completly wrong.

First of all, this contains 26 episodes, not 13.

Also, you're wrong about the Extras. There are commentaries.

The only thing you got right was the packaging.

So, what you really did here, was pick up a sealed copy at Best Buy, looked at it for about 10 seconds, and then came up with this "review" based on that.

And you can't even be bothered to say ANYTHING about the set other than sparing a few paragraphs soley on your WRONG "facts"

    What a fail.

    Worst. Review. Ever.

    Of all time.
