Well guys, its finally here. After being hinted at all the way back since chapter 69 (no obvious joke there), the Straw Hats are finally at Fishman Island. What sort of wonders await them there? Let’s find out.

We pick up after last week’s chapter with the Straw Hats being stopped right at the entrance of Fishman Island by the New Fishman pirates, since Luffy turned down their offer to join them last time, they immediately call them the enemy and aren’t going to let them through (hmmm…something tells me that something “fishy” is going on….sorry that was terrible). They try to attack with their pet Sea Lion, but luckily the Thousand Sunny’s lion nature is stronger thanks to the Coup De Burst! However, the pressure is causing the bubble around the Sunny to shrink. The coating is ripped off by the huge double layered bubble surrounding the island and the gang are struggling to breathe with the sea water (especially the devil fruit users of course). The Straw Hats are now scattered across the island, but Hammond (one of the new Fish man pirates) is prepared to let his boss know that the one who took down Arlong’s ambition has arrived.

Arlong eh? I wonder if this arc will top that?

We go to an unknown location in Fishman Island as Luffy wakes up to see some cute little mermaids surrounding him as well as Usopp, Chopper and Sanji, not to forget our pal Keimi (who now has a sexy new hairstyle). It turned out that she was supposed to pick them up at Sabaody but she forgot the date…whoops. It a lot so turns out that the mermaids rescued them from drowning, I’m glad not all the people here are arses. The little mermaids (not a Disney joke, I already did that in the opening line!), are killifish mermaid quintuplets and are all named partly after Japanese numbers (except for Yonka Two which means 4-2...yeah I’m not good at explaining it. Sorry). Their location is in a female dorm at the Mermaid café, where Keimi apparently works as a waitress. Sanji is literally drooling when he hears this, but perseveres that he shall survive! Good for you Sanji you wonderful perv you!….wait. The building they’re at is an underwater coral mansion, the prices depend on which floor you live (Keimi gets the cheapest since shes at the bottom). Someone asks about Hachi and Papaug, Hachi is still recovering from his injuries and recuperating at “the Fishman District” which is apparently dangerous (I guess mermaids are good and fishmen are bad, nice contrast…or not) and since Papaug is a famous designer he lives in Gyoverly Hills (referencing Beverly Hills), but Keimi doesn’t fit in with where he lives, hence why they don’t live together. Theres also water roads, which are built by bubble craftsmen (kinda  reminds me of the cloud constructions in Skypiea), that can travel through the sky….but not the “real” sky per se. They’re still too deep underwater to be above the surface so…we don’t know how this works yet.

Sanji…please don’t die

They arrive at a place called “Mermaid Cove” where all of Keimi’s beautiful mermaid friends are, and Sanji just collapses in tears (even more than when he left the Baratie) even calling this place the All Blue….yeah. It would be cool if it actually was but, something tells me that’s not right….at all. The mermaids also spot a tied up-barrel that apparently came in with Keimi and the others….mysterious. We end this week’s awesome chapter with Hammond at a place called “Noah” at the Fishman District asking his boss about the situation with the mystery man proclaiming to bring Luffy to him and he looks a little bit like Arlong…hmmm….but you can tell its not him because of the nose and he’s silhouetted. Maybe a relative, someone close to him at least? They are the same species of Fishmen if nothing else.

Was Fishman Island worth the hype so far? Well even though I know that we have A LOT more to get through, I can already say that this arc is awesome and well worth the hype. But theres still questions like, did the other Straw Hats survive? What other things/people will the Straw Hats see/meet here? Who is this mysterious man and whats in the mysterious barrel?

OMG Arlong’s eviller twin brother!…..maybe?

We’ll find out next time, UNDA DA SEA! :D

  3. Yup, it's Caribou all right. I think the mermaids are gonna let him out and he's gonna cause "some" sorta trouble, no doubt. Even if its not in the next chapter, I'm sure he's gonna come out sometime :)
